The classics, so many authors, so very many books. I have read all of Dickens, most of Trollope, Wilkie Collins and many others and I find them fascinating for many reasons. Dickens gives an insight into a way of life so very different to ours but as much of it is set within was in my own grandmother's lifetime or perhaps more in her mother's and I still feel that connection. I am sad that that many people have missed the pleasure I have found in his books and I doubt whether the situation is likely to improve. Does it matter, certainly to me it does, when my generation and perhaps the one following have gone even books themselves may be a thing of the past. So far there are no other posts on this board which may be due to registering problems but it opened quite a long time ago. I had no idea of it's existence until Admin posted about on the Pointless board so perhaps no one else was aware of it. I hope to see other likeminded readers coming here soon.

There doesn't seem to be an editing facility here so that should have read " set within my own grandmother's lifetime" etc.
